An independent firm for a structural problem.

Resilion exists because the risks that destroy organisations sit outside conventional frameworks, and because the firms best placed to see this are structurally unable to say it.

Why Resilion exists.

Systemic risks arise from the aggregate behaviour of many actors, each operating rationally within its own constraints. Decisions that are optimal at the firm level produce, collectively, fragility at the system level. Internal governance, incentives and reporting hierarchies keep these dynamics invisible to the people with the authority to act.

Large advisory firms are not always best placed to fill this gap. Scale and established commercial relationships can sit uneasily with the independence a systemic diagnosis requires. Credible systemic risk assessment needs three things together: independence, the domain expertise to make the diagnosis rigorous, and the practical experience to make the output actionable. Resilion was built to hold all three at once.

Purpose

To make structural and systemic risk visible and decision-useful, for the benefit of a more resilient society.

To do this with intellectual rigour, full independence, and the occasional laugh.

Values.

  • We stand in for truth. We honour the scientific method and independence of mind. Every major decision incorporates relevant evidence rather than market convention or received wisdom.
  • What we say is what we do. We name structural vulnerabilities plainly, including uncomfortable ones. Credibility is earned by merit and character, never by institutional position.
  • We help each other succeed. Helping others grow, professionally and personally, is a duty. We push our limits with courage and share what we learn.
  • We find the better way. Good enough is a low standard. Excellence has to be earned, and when achieved, recognised.
  • We have a good laugh every day. Humour is intelligence in expression. The best thinking is done by people who know that none of this is quite as serious as it looks.

Patrick Schmucki

Founder and Managing Director, Resilion GmbH

Patrick founded Resilion in 2026 after 20 years in Big Four audit and advisory across several countries, spanning audit, regulation, risk management, sustainability and strategy, most recently in sustainability leadership. He has worked with most major Swiss banks, insurers, asset managers and pension funds. He writes The Adaptive Edge, a newsletter on risk, strategy and complexity for senior financial executives, and works at the intersection of risk, strategy, governance and sustainability as one connected discipline.

How we work.

Resilion is deliberately small. Engagements are delivered by the founder with a complexity scientist and a quantitative modeller, and the methodology is developed in collaboration with academic partners. The firm is bootstrapped and takes no outside capital: validation comes from paying clients. We decline work that does not sharpen the methodology or serve the systemic-risk thesis.
